Friday July the 10th, the final results of the fifth seminar –Via di Terra- were presented in Room 01 at Domus Academy, eliciting a remarkably positive response.

More than 20 different proposals were showcased during an all-day-long presentations session.

The projects developed under Paolo Cesaretti’s supervision opened the day. The projects explored urban and social issues, investigating the potential of interactive and navigation systems to be applied to ‘Via di Terra’ pathway. The groups led by Setsu Ito followed. These projects dealt mainly with the theme of resting areas and location-based information navigation systems.

In the early afternoon, project leader Luca Buttafava introduced the proposals he supervised. These projects explored the ‘parasite’ quality of unobtrusive systems conceived for the urban environment. The session was, then, closed by the groups led by Robert Le Quesne and Domenico Pisaturo. This last group of projects worked to wave into the urban fabric all the threads of information that are surrounding contemporary city dwellers.

This last seminar marked also the conclusion of the first part of the year. Part 2, starting in September with the Final Master Projects, will see the Master in Design & in Interaction Design students start to work individually led by different Project Leaders following to the proposals and requirements of a number of Companies.

The meeting is for September the 7th, when the first Brief will be launched.

Meanwhile Domus Academy wishes to everybody a nice & refreshing summer break!

Friday June the 12th the students of the Master Course in Design presented to the Faculty and to the Course Director the results of the Changing Workshop.

Presentations begun with the groups that worked under Claudia Raimondo’s direction. The projects, taking inspiration on Owen Jones’ work, focused on developing the surface of new materials.

Following were the students led by Eliana Lorena. The works presented explored the potential of bringing to the 3rd dimension methods and techniques that are traditionally bi-dimensional.

The session, then, was concluded by the projects proposed by Emmanuel Gallina’s groups. These last works concentrated on shifting the characteristics of objects by changing their finishing and their materials.

Particular emphasis was laid on finishings and the way they connect to emotions, therefore eliciting different reactions. Several interesting proposals were illustrated, outlining potential new objects typologies.
