Surprise!
Surprise! is the first workshop of the Design Department at Domus Academy in the academic year 2007. Students of the Master in Design, I-Design and Car Design & Mobility all took part in the workshop.

Each Master followed separate briefs related to the common framework. The surprise element is becoming ever more important for the success of a new product:
HIDDEN OR SECRET QUALITIES
AN IMAGE OUT OF CONTEXT
OUT OF SCALE
UNUSUAL MATERIALS
SURPRISING REFERENCES
SPECTACULARIZATION
UNEXPECTED PERFORMANCES
..just to quote some features of today’s products, which often are in contrast with the classical qualities of “good design” and of “shape dependent on function”.
These qualities can be obtained with TECHNIQUES and STRATEGIES which refer not only to the world of design, but also to the arts..
